About Roman Vita

I introduce myself, this is me! Suzanne

Salve!

I am Susana, the creative mind behind this exciting project that is Vita Romana, and I am going to tell you a little about myself. I have always been fascinated by history, especially that related to the Roman Empire. Perhaps the fact of being born in a city like Tarragona, the ancient Tarraco, capital of Hispania Citerior Tarraconensis, had an influence. I remember that even when I was a little girl, I couldn't help but feel a deep pride in my place of origin. Walking through its streets, I imagined that centuries ago other people had lived there, being able to observe with my own eyes the vestiges of buildings that those ancient inhabitants enjoyed.

Despite my love for history, I found classes in my time monotonous and boring. Although my life did not take me down the path of archeology or academic history, I always retained a deep interest in them.

Tarragona Amphitheater

The most important challenge of my life

Years later, I met the man who would become my partner. Passionate (even more than me) about history. It was with him that I visited “Tarraco Viva” for the first time, the Roman festival held annually in Tarragona. There we would meet one of our references in this world; A German historical reconstruction group that was also dedicated to online sales. We began to collaborate with them and forged a great friendship. That's how I entered the world of Roman replicas.

Shortly after, unfortunately, my partner passed away due to health problems. As a result of the tremendous shock that his loss caused me, I decided to move to Germany to change the environment and work intensively with my friends. There I learned almost everything I know now about my products and I also got started in the topic of e-commerce.

Some time later I became clear: I wanted to keep my partner's spirit alive, and what better way than to continue with that project we started together.

Upon returning to Spain, I collaborated with archaeologists and historians in different projects, I participated in historical reconstruction groups; And finally, many years later, I had the opportunity to fulfill my dream: after a few timid attempts, I managed to create what we know today as Vita Romana.

Why Vita Romana?

When the Roman Empire is mentioned, most usually think of its famous legions with their striking uniforms, shields and helmets. But what about everyday life. of the common people?; how did they live? What utensils did they use in their daily lives? How did they educate their children? What did they light their homes with?... These questions led me to realize how little information was available on the matter. Added to this was my passion for crafts, my interest in new technologies and my love for interacting with people. That's when I decided to create Vita Romana.

History within everyone's reach

Since its inception, Vita Romana's motto has been to bring history to a diverse audience. I do not seek to be simply another online store, but a space to connect with professionals in history, archeology and education; as with passionate enthusiasts, like me, who deeply love history.

To do this, I use clear and understandable language for everyone. I feel that history deserves to come to life in the classrooms, in a more dynamic and fun way than I experienced. This motivation has driven me to create teaching materials that lead teachers to transmit their passion, in an interactive and exciting way; and, at the same time, allow students to touch and feel history with their own hands.

With good friends like César Pociña and Fernando Lillo

The pillars of my project

  • Historical rigor: It is important to highlight that we always have the guidance of experts in the field, which guarantees the historical authenticity of our products. Even the name of the store came about thanks to a beloved retired Latin teacher, for whom I have a special affection.
  • Craftsmanship: Our products are manufactured by hand and, in some cases, in a personalized way. This explains why you will find limited quantities in our store; We prioritize quality over quantity.
  • Treasures of the world: In addition to creating some of the products, I also dedicate myself to searching for artisans around the world who make authentic treasures. Then, I bring them to Vita Romana to bring them together in one place and make searches easier for all clients. By the way, if you are a craftsman and make pieces that may interest us, do not hesitate to contact me.
  • Close treatment: Whether you are a professional or simply an enthusiastic amateur, I will always be happy and willing to help you with whatever you need. Don't hesitate to contact me, even if you don't find what you're looking for. I will do everything possible to satisfy your needs.
