The scarab depicted on this pendant is inspired by the dung beetle ( Scarabaeus sacer ), an insect very common in Egypt and deeply observed by its inhabitants since Antiquity.

The Egyptians noticed a very specific behavior:
The beetle pushes a ball of dung in which it lays its eggs, and from which, seemingly spontaneously, new life emerges. This phenomenon was interpreted as an act of creation and regeneration , and was associated with the sun's daily movement across the sky.

Therefore, the scarab beetle became associated with the god Khepri , the dawn form of the sun god Ra, responsible for the rebirth of the sun each day. Thus, the scarab came to symbolize the eternal cycle of life , rebirth , transformation , and protection against chaos .

The turquoise blue color , highly prized in Egypt, was associated with the Nile, the sky, and creation, and was linked to life, health, and divine protection . Many pieces of faience (a type of glazed pottery) and ceramics imitated this luminous hue due to its strong symbolic significance.
